I purchased this product because I had the original toy when they had their first run. I don't plan on opening the package at all he is a collectors item for me to just display.
Not to say it was a bad toy, just to say it could stand improving.The Classics version of Starscream works to correct that problem, consolidating most of those parts into the figure itself so you have to reposition or move a piece instead of removing it. A few criticisms about the figure though. It almost seemed guaranteed that you'd lose parts almost as soon as you opened the box. In fact, probably one of the most popular characters in the Transformer series itself.One of the problems with the original toy however, was that much of the transformation depended on the placement of a number of parts (15 additional parts besides the main robot, including winds, missile launchers, missiles, fists and landing gear). Back in the 80's they released the original Starscream figure, and several repaints/slight retoolings of the mold (referred to by many fans as the Seekers). His facial features don't stand out as well as they could. This really is a good Starscream figure, and assuming you can pick him up for around $10 (they've got a repaint out I think, which is more 'toon accurately painted), I'd say he's an awesome figure to buy, especially for fans of the original series. Not to mention arms and legs offer a good deal of possibility.
A simple redesign of the location of the pegs on the launchers could have solved this. Everything else is a part of the figure. Starscream was among the first of these seekers, and without a doubt the most popular of them. The missile launchers, when connected to his arms, force the wings back while in robot mode. In fact, the only extra pieces are the two missile launchers and missiles. Not to mention Starscream has been designed to look much more like his cartoon counterpart in robot mode. Also, on mine his face is plain silver plastic, which doesn't look right. There are a few other points that could be nitpicked at, but all in all, I'd say a very solid figure, and an awesome homage to the original.
Yes, like some of the annoying Alternators the pieces tend to fall off but really they are minor pieces and not hands/arms/legs etc. I wish this figure had launchable rockets like the original Starscream G1 figure but other than that this figure rules. Robot or jet mode this IS Starscream (unlike Michael Bay's movie version). This is a collectable, posable figure and a must-have for G1 fans who like collecting figures that do the G1 line justice.

Also in an age where most transformer figures are way to delicate to be considered "toys", this one is quite sturdy, and the only peices that need to come off are the 2 (slightly oversized)arm/wing cannons. Awsome figure, so i will start with the only minor complaint i can see, which is that it's slightly smaller than most transformer figures. Tranformation is very easy, even the first time it took me about 30 seconds. Other than that, this may be my favorite starscream of all time. It's detail and accuracy can only be rivaled by the masterpeice versions.(which I also own)So unless you are prepared to pay $100-$250 for one of those, this is your best bet. for collectors, it's pretty posable, and stands up extremly well in almost any pose. Kid or collector, this is a great figure.
